 Nameri National park is located in the Sonitpur District Covering an area of 200 sq kms. It is nestled at the foothills of Eastern Himalayas.Nameri National Park was established as a sanctuary on 18th September 1985 and was officially declared as a National Park on 15th November,1998.Nameri National park is home to different types of endangered species like white winged wood duck,leopard,Sambar,indian wild dog,hornbill and many more winged species.The park is famous for high density of elephant population.Nameri National Park is the second Tiger Reserve in Assam.

Best time to visit the park

The best time  to visit the park is November to April as the temperature would be mild cold.

How to reach Nameri National Park

By Road: The Nameri National Park is well connected mainly with the road. There are regular bus services available from most of the major cities like Tezpur, Guwahati, Dibrugarh and some other places to Nameri National Park. You can also book a taxi to reach Nameri.

By Air: The nearest airport to the park is Tezpur which is only 35 kms away. You can take a cab or a bus from Tezpur to reach the park.You can also hire a taxi from us.Guwahati is another nearest international airport which is around 200 kilometers away from Nameri.

By Rail: The nearest railway station is Rangarapa railway station which is only 21kms from park.Another railway station with the best connectivity would be Guwahati (204 kms away). Lot of cars and buses both private and government are available to reach the park.You can hire a car from Guwahati railway station and get Nameri National Park.

Attraction of Nameri National Park

Flora: Almost 600 floral species are found in the park.The commonly found flowers include orchids, Cypripedium reginae, Cymbidium and Dendrobium etc.

Fauna:   Nameri National Park is home to several types of wildlife, including Marbled Cat, Hog Deer, Dhole, Clouded Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Bengal Tiger, Wild Boar, Capped Langur, Sloth Bear, and other animals. Apart from this wildlife, it has as many as 374 birds species, The Nameri National Park is a paradise for aviphiles. Few of the easily spotted birds include Grey Headed Fishing Eagles, White Winged Ducks, Beautiful Nuthatch and Drongos. It is also home to insects like the Lantern fly , multicoloured butterflies and Assam Roof Turtles.

Adventure Activities at Nameri National Park

 The activities options available at the Nameri National Park are water boating, angling, swimming etc.The Elephant Safari is a fun and the easiest way to navigate the park.Trekking through the park is allowed according to the climate and terrain conditions.River rafting is likewise held at the south-east side of the recreation centre of Jia Bharali.
