Meghalaya is a scenic state in north-eastern India.Apart from its scenic waterfalls, caves and crystal clear lakes and river it is home to a variety of flora and fauna..The north-eastern state of Meghalaya has a total area of 22,429 sq km and about one-third of the state is under the cover of forests making it rich in flora and fauna. The forests are prominent for their biodiversity of different mammals, birds, flora and fauna.

Balpakram National Park is located in the South Garo Hills district. It was established as a National Park in the year 1985. The Park is a famous national park which is well known for its pristine beauty. The Balpakram National Park is home to many endangered and endemic species of plants and animals.. Some of the other occupants of the park are red panda, golden cat, tiger, leopard and Asian elephants, great hornbill, bay woodpecker and peacock, kingfisher etc.
Opening Time: Timing is 7 AM to 6 PM
Best time to visit : From Ocobar to March.
Nokrek National Park

About 45 kilometres from the city of Tura in the Garo Hills, the park is famous for being home to Hollock Gibbons, a rare type of gorilla. It is also home to the Asiatic elephant and several species of wild cats, ranging from a small marbled cat to the majestic tiger, as well as the clouded leopard.. It is truly fascinating to see this magnificent animal in this national park. The Nokrek National Park is an ideal place to go birdwatching. Several migrant birds call this location home.
Open Hours: Timing is 10 AM to 5 PM
Best time to visit: From Octobar to march.
Nongkhyllem Sanctuary

Nongkhyllem Sanctuary is Located in Ri Bhoi district is home to various unique reptiles, birds and fauna. The park is spread across an area of 29 square .Among the commonly spotted wildlife are the Bengal tiger, black bear, leopard and other species at the verge of extinction such as the necked hornbill and the brown hornbill bird.
Open Hours: 4 AM to 7 PM
Best time to visit: is from November to April.
Siju wildlife Sanctuary

Siju Wildlife Sanctuary is home to enchanting migratory birds, rare endemic flora, and diverse wildlife such as elephants, tigers, and the elusive clouded leopard.It is situated in Garo Hills region of Meghalaya Covering an area of only 5.18 sq.kms. Siju Wildlife Sanctuary boasts a plethora of wild animals including barking deer, sambar deer, wild boar, langurs, hoolock gibbons, slow loris, and rhesus macaques.
Open Hours: Timing is 4 AM to 8 PM
Best time to visit: from November to April.
