Day by day

1. Day 1NJP/Bagdogra to Gangtok

   Land at NJP or Bagdogra and climb to Gangtok, the road following the Teesta up as the hills close in around it.

2. Day 2Gangtok to Lachung

   North into Sikkim proper, the valley narrowing and the waterfalls coming straight off the cliffs onto the road, ending the day at Lachung.

3. Day 3Yumthang Valley & Zero Point

   A full day in Yumthang — the Valley of Flowers — where the river runs through open meadow between snow peaks and, in season, rhododendrons cover the slopes. Zero Point too if the weather agrees, where the road simply stops. Then back to Gangtok.

4. Day 4Gangtok Local & Tsomgo Lake

   MG Road at your own pace, then up to Tsomgo, a glacial lake sitting in a bowl at over 12,000 feet, and Baba Mandir beyond it.

5. Day 5Gangtok to Pelling

   West to Pelling by way of Namchi, high country the whole way.

6. Day 6Pelling Sightseeing

   Pemayangtse, one of Sikkim's oldest monasteries, with Kanchenjunga filling the sky behind it on a clear morning. Khecheopalri, a lake held sacred and kept so clean that no leaf is allowed to rest on it. And Rimbi Falls.

7. Day 7Pelling to NJP/Bagdogra, Departure

   The drive back down to NJP or Bagdogra for onward departure.
