Day by day

  1. Day 1Arrival Guwahati - Shillong

    Up to Shillong, out of the heat of the plains and into pine and cool air. The evening is yours. Overnight in Shillong.

  2. Day 2Shillong - Mawsynram

    A full day out to Mawsynram, one of the wettest inhabited places on earth, where the rain is not weather so much as a condition. Mawjymbuin Cave, with its great stalagmite worn into the shape of a Shiva linga, and viewpoints seen the way they are meant to be seen — through water. Back to Shillong for the night.

  3. Day 3Cherrapunjee Day Trip

    Cherrapunjee in full spate, which is the only way to see it. Nohkalikai thundering into its jade pool, the Seven Sisters strung white across the opposite cliff, and the Arwah Caves with fossils in the limestone and water running through them. Overnight in Shillong.

  4. Day 4Departure

    The drive back down to Guwahati for onward travel.
