Day by day

  1. Day 1Guwahati - Jorhat - Majuli

To Jorhat, then the ferry across the Brahmaputra to Majuli — one of the largest river islands there is, and shrinking each year as the river takes it back. The crossing is the moment the trip changes. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Majuli.

  2. Day 2Majuli Satra Tour

A full day across the island. Kamalabari and Auniati Satras, monasteries where monks have kept Assamese Vaishnavite dance, music and manuscript alive for four centuries. The mask-making village at Samaguri, where gods and demons are built out of bamboo and clay for the satra dramas. And Mishing villages on stilts between them. Overnight in Majuli.

  3. Day 3Majuli - Jorhat - Guwahati Departure

The morning ferry back to Jorhat, then on to Guwahati — or out from Jorhat airport if that suits you better.
