Day by day
Day 1Guwahati - Kaziranga
Four or five hours east through tea country to Kaziranga. The Orchid Park in the evening, with hundreds of native species under one roof, and a cultural programme to follow. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Day 2Kaziranga Safaris
Elephant safari at first light, moving quietly through elephant grass that stands well above your head while the mist lifts off it. Breakfast after. Then an afternoon jeep safari in a different range altogether — open grassland, shallow water, and a park that holds more one-horned rhino than anywhere on earth. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Day 3Kaziranga - Guwahati Departure
One more jeep safari if you want it, and the early ones are always the best. Then the drive back to Guwahati for onward travel.
