Day by day

  1. Day 1Arrival Imphal

    Met at Imphal airport, then Kangla Fort — the old seat of the Manipuri kings, moated and walled in the middle of the city. Then Ima Keithel, a market of several thousand stalls run entirely by women, as it has been for centuries. There is nowhere else quite like it. Overnight in Imphal.

  2. Day 2Loktak Lake - Keibul Lamjao

    A full day at Loktak, the largest freshwater lake in the northeast, its surface broken into phumdis — floating islands of matted vegetation, some big enough to live on. Out among them by boat, then into Keibul Lamjao, the only floating national park in the world and the last home of the Sangai deer. Overnight near Loktak or in Imphal.

  3. Day 3Imphal War Sites & Culture

    The Indo-Japanese War Cemetery, the State Museum, and the handloom villages where Manipuri cloth is still woven on backstrap looms in front of the house. Overnight in Imphal.

  4. Day 4Departure

    Transfer to Imphal airport for onward travel.
