Day by day

  1. Day 1Guwahati - Bomdila

    Guwahati to Bomdila, climbing all afternoon out of the Brahmaputra plain into pine and cloud. Inner Line Permit required, and taken care of before you reach the gate. Overnight in Bomdila.

  2. Day 2Bomdila - Dirang

    Bomdila Monastery in the morning, prayer flags strung above a valley that runs away for miles, and the viewpoint just above it. Then down to Dirang, where an old stone dzong sits over the river and the village is built in timber and slate. Overnight in Dirang.

  3. Day 3Sangti Valley & Apple Orchards

    Out to Sangti Valley, flat and quiet between steep hills, with apple orchards along the road and the river running clear through the middle of it. Hot springs to finish, which is exactly right after two days of mountain road. Overnight in Dirang.

  4. Day 4Departure

    The long descent back to Guwahati for onward travel.
