Day by day

1. Day 1Arrive Denpasar

   Into Denpasar and on to Kuta or Seminyak, where the beach runs long and flat and the first evening is best spent doing nothing on it.

2. Day 2Ubud Tour

   Ubud for the day. The Tegalalang rice terraces stepping down the valley in curves that have been worked the same way for centuries, the Sacred Monkey Forest with its moss-covered temples under the canopy, and the art villages around town where the carving and painting is actually made.

3. Day 3Kintamani Volcano & Temples

   Up to Kintamani for the volcano — Batur sitting in its own caldera with the lake beside it — then down to Tirta Empul, where spring water runs through stone spouts and people have been bathing in it for a thousand years.

4. Day 4Nusa Penida / Watersports Day

   Yours to choose: a day out to Nusa Penida for cliffs and clear water, or watersports at Tanjung Benoa.

5. Day 5Departure

   Transfer to the airport for the flight home.
