A culture-and-wildlife combination pairing Kaziranga's wildlife with Nagaland's tribal heritage, ideally timed with the Hornbill Festival.
Guwahati to Kaziranga, and an early night — the morning starts before the light does. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Elephant safari through the tall grass at dawn, jeep safari across the grassland in the afternoon. Rhino, and everything that shares the park with them. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Six or seven hours east and up into Nagaland, the plains giving way to steep hills and villages set on the ridgelines. Kohima by evening. Overnight in Kohima.
A full day at Kisama, where each Naga tribe keeps its own morung — a longhouse built in its own style, carved and thatched. If your dates land on the Hornbill Festival you will find it full of song, dance and smoke from a hundred kitchens; if not, the village stands quiet and you can take it in properly. Overnight in Kohima.
The War Cemetery, terraced up a hillside with a headstone for each of the men who died holding this ridge in 1944. Then the markets, and time with Naga communities that no itinerary can really script. Overnight in Kohima.
The long road back west towards Guwahati. Overnight in Guwahati.
Transfer to Guwahati airport or railway station for onward travel.
