3 days in Mizoram: Solomon's Temple; Reiek Tlang (Reiek Hill); Mizoram State Museum.
Aizawl arrives all at once — a city built along the spine of a ridge, houses stacked down the slopes on stilts, cloud moving through the streets. Solomon's Temple first, white and improbably large against the green, then down into Bara Bazar where Mizo women sell produce from the hills in the middle of the afternoon crush.
Out to Reiek Tlang, an hour or so from town, where the forest gives way near the top and the whole of Aizawl lies below you with the hills folding away behind it. A traditional Mizo village stands rebuilt at the base — thatch, bamboo, the shape of how people lived here — and you can walk straight through it.
Up before the light for Durtlang Hills, where the valley below fills with mist and the city surfaces through it in pieces as the sun comes over the ridge. Worth the alarm. Then down to the airport.
