Hornbill Festival,Nagaland -2023

Hornbill Festival  is a very popular festival of North Eastern state, Nagaland. The Hornbill Festival is a grand celebration that is brought to life each year in Nagaland, North East India. The Hornbill Festival, is also called the ‘Festivals of Festivals’, that showcases the rich and diverse Naga ethnicity through folk dances, traditional music, local cuisine, handicraft, art workshops, etc.

The festival is gritting in its element and a powerful representation of the Naga culture through splendid traditional music, dance and performances. It is organized by State Tourism and Art & Culture Departments and also supported by Union Government. The venue of the Hornbill Festival is around 5 km from Kohima on the festival grounds of the organizers - Kisama Heritage Village, a small village of Nagas.

The Hornbill festival is celebrated annually. The vibrant festival takes place mainly in the first week of December every year. The Hornbill Festival will start on 1st December and continue until 10th December 2023.The festival will celebrate its 23 years of celebration in the year 2023.

The Hornbill festival was first started in the year 2000. The festival gets its name from the Indian Hornbill .The Indian Hornbill (Dhanesh bird), a bird that appears frequently in folklore from Nagaland and may be observed in the state’s forests. The festival is organized to revive the rich culture and heritage of the Naga tribe. It also helps in the interconnection of the tribe with the global world... The aim of this festival is to ensure the Naga culture is preserved and protected. The festival brings about unity and better relation among the various tribes in Nagaland.
